Glenelg

Glenelg.

Clear

One of Adelaide’s most popular beachside locations, Glenelg lays claim to being a holiday destination with something for everyone.

Head 20-minutes out of Adelaide City for an instant hit of beachy vibes, made all the more alluring with frolicking dolphins. This string of beachside towns is all about easy-going days by the water’s edge. Still, none other are quite like Glenelg – a progressive hangout that’s on-point with its trendy eateries, boutique storefronts, and dreamy foreshore.

Popular year-round, the beach and marina take centre stage. Runners pound the pavement along the esplanade, while families eat fish and chips and splash in the waves along the shoreline. Swimmers, sailors, kayakers, windsurfers and snorkelers are a regular feature while there are volleyball and polo competitions on the beach during summer and a pop-up ice skating rink takes over during winter.

The main retail strip along Jetty Road is easily accessed by the Glenelg Tram and has an eclectic mix of fashion boutiques, speciality shops, movie cinemas, alfresco cafés, restaurants and bars. Moseley Square is home to the popular Stamford Grand Hotel and is also where locals and visitors come together to revel in the sun.

Food and wine is a major part of the Glenelg lifestyle. The cafés and restaurants in and around Jetty Road and the Holdfast Marina serve up some of the best seafood in Adelaide. Step away from the main hub and Glenelg adopts a much quieter feel – pine tree-lined streets offer a shady retreat with leafy green parks and reserves.

Renowned for its pristine beach, rich heritage, sidewalk cafés and stunning sunsets, Glenelg is an idyllic holiday destination.
